Al Rajhi Bank ventured into the Malaysian shore after being the first Saudi bank to be awarded a full-banking license by the Central Bank of Malaysia. The Bank started its operations in Malaysia on the 16th October, 2006 with the opening of the Main Branch in Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.

Their first marketing campaign started in December, 2006 and the Official Launch took place on the 5th of February, 2007 by the Malaysian Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Following the Saudi business model which adhers closely to the deeply rooted Islamic banking principles, the Shariah-compliant banking group is planning to be instrumental in bridging the gap between modern financial demands and intrinsic Islamic values, for the numerous industry standards and development in Malaysia Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia currently has twelve (12) branches and plans to reach 50 branches by 2010.
