Al Voecks

Al Voecks is the newsman for Gerry House on Gerry House and the House Foundation on The Big 98, WSIX-FM in Nashville, Tennessee.

He was born in Waverly, Iowa in 1938 and began his career in Sioux City, Iowa. Voecks came to Nashville in 1963 and worked as a television news anchor, news director and sports and weather presenter for the NBC affiliate. He has also worked for WSM Radio.

He joined the 'House Foundation' show in the early 80's after hosting a talk show on WSIX-AM, as it was known then before it became the big FM station we know it as today. Al comes in every half hour with Duncan Stewart (Gerry's Sports man) to do the news and he also plays along the 'Liars Club' and 'You Be The Judge' during the show each morning.

Voecks has been named Broadcaster of the Year by the Tennessee Associated Press, and he has received recognition from numerous charitable organizations. Voecks has also been associated with Tennessee Crossroads since it began in 1987.

Al claims he is married to the 'greatest gal in the world', Marci, and he enjoys the music of Spike Jones, who was the first concert Al went to see in Waterloo, Iowa in 1948. He also likes The Ink Spots, Ray Anthony, The Kingston Trio and The Four Freshman. His least favorite song ever is 'The Baby' by Blake Shelton

Gerry often quips on air that Al enjoys sitting in an empty hot tub and there are frequent references to his liquor cabinet.
