Al Qasha

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Al Qasha was the capital of the Alawi sheikhdom in south Yemen. It is a small city bordering on Saudi Arabia. The founder of this city was sheikh Sayel Bin Alawi Al Rabbaa in 1743, after he left his home in Najran (Saudi Arabia now) to avoid the problem between his family, the royal family in Najran Hepatullah family, and his wife's family from the Hameduldeen royal family in north Yemen. He started his own sheikhdom of Al Alawi in Al Qasha and tried to make it a safe place for his family and people. The Alawi sheikhdom remained until 1967.
