Al Doty

Alan Floyd Doty (b.1945), usually known as Al Doty, is the DFL Party representative from District 12B in the Minnesota House of Representatives. He was elected on November 7, 2006 defeating 3 term incumbent Republican Greg Blaine.[1]

Al Doty taught social studies, coached wrestling, and was technology coordinator at Pierz High School from 1968 until he retired in 1999. After teaching, Doty went to work as a senior citizen advocate for Horizon Health, Inc. in Pierz, MN. In 2004 Doty ran for the House District 12B seat as an independent against Republican incumbent Greg Blaine and DFL nominee Bob Keeton. Blaine won the election.[2] In March 2006, Doty was asked to run by the DFL Party when Bob Keeton dropped out. Doty won the election by 581 votes.[3]
