Al-Malikiyya

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Al-Malikiyya was an Arab village on the border between Palestine and Lebanon, north-northeast of the town of Safad. Its population was Shiite and it was originally part of Lebanon, which still claims sovereignty over this and several other (former) villages. In a 1930s census, the village was registered as Palestinian, belonging to Safad district.

A battle was fought in the village on 5-6 June 1948, during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. Combatants were Israelis and the Lebanese army. The village is currently depopulated and located in a military zone.
