Al-Faiz

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Al-Faiz (b.1149 d.1160) was the thirteenth Caliph of the Fatimids (1154-1160).

He succeed his father Az-Zafir (1149-1154) as a child, with the vizir Tali ibn Russik acting as regent. Tali attempted to address the dominance of the Crusaders in Palestine through an alliance of the Fatimids and the Zengids of Syria under Nureddin (1140-1174). Al-Faizz never exercised power in his own right, and died aged 11, succeeded by his brother Al-Adid (1160-1171), also a minor.
