When her older brother Daigo becomes a victim of the student kidnappings, Akira becomes determined to find out what happened to him. Because her brother's school, Gedo High, is a boys-only school, she dons a full biker suit and helmet and passes herself off as Daigo's brother. At Gedo High, she picks two of her brother's closest subordinates, Edge and Gan Isurugi to help find out what happened to Daigo, doing her best to hide her true identity from the gangsters. Eventually, they find that Daigo has become a brainwashed slave of Hyo Imawano, and free him from the brainwashing. Akira finally reveals her true identity to her new friends, much to the surprise of Edge and Gan.

Akira's biker disguise is the costume she starts out with at the start of Rival Schools, and the game for the most part assumes her to be male, with the game's text referring to her as male, and the revelation that she is female only unveiled in her 'good ending' in the game. An Akira without the helmet and with a tank top instead of a biker jacket can be unlocked as a separate character, with similar, but not entirely the same moves as 'original' Akira; most notably, her two-person team up attack is different. Interestingly, this new team-up attack is mostly identical to the method EVA-01 and EVA-02 used to defeat Israfel in the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion.

[edit] Project Justice

At the start of Project Justice, it is revealed that Akira has been transferred from Gedo to the girls-only Seijyun Girls High School. There, she becomes fast friends with another girl at the school, Yurika Kirishima. At the start of the events in Project Justice, Akira and Yurika convince a notorious gang leader and Seijyun student Zaki to help find out why Daigo had been acting strangely. During their investigation, the girls are attacked by what appears to be Batsu Ichimonji, but when Akira tracks him down and defeats him in return, she learns the attacker was an impersonator.

Later on, Akira is informed by her old friends Edge and Gan that Daigo had ordered Gedo students to attack Seijyun High. While Zaki's gang holds off the Gedo students, Akira faces off with her brother, who at that point was in a crazed state. With the help of her friends, Daigo is defeated, but he runs off. Yurika then reveals herself as having worked with the person controlling Daigo, but having given up on that cause because of Akira's courage. Inspired by her friends' courage, Akira donned the helmet she wore while at Gedo again. Yurika then leads Akira and Zaki to the mastermind of the violence: Yurika's brother, Kurow. A newly confident Akira, along with her friends allow her to defeat Kurow and free Daigo from the young ninja's mind control.

After the defeat of Kurow and the destruction of Justice High School, Yurika disappeared from Seijyun for a few days. Akira was worried that her friend was still guilty about working with Kurow, despite Zaki's insistence that Yurika would be fine. When Yurika returns to school, Akira is the first to welcome her back - and the happiest to see her return.

In a twist from Rival Schools, Akira starts out in Project Justice without her biker gear. In this state, her moves are mostly similar to the non-biker gear Akira from Rival Schools, though there are some differences, including a new Team Up attack. She later regains her familiar helmet and jacket in one of the storylines for Seijyun High in story mode, which unlocks the masked Akira, named Powered Akira, who retains all of the moves she originally had from Rival Schools, and gains the Gedo HS three-person attack.
