Akers, Missouri

Akers is an unincorporated community located in northwest Shannon County, Missouri. It is located about eighteen miles northwest of Eminence in the Ozark National Scenic Riverways. Akers houses a campground, general store, and access to the Current River, a popular canoeing location. It formerly had a post office, but now mail is served by Salem. The community was founded in 1886 and is named for John Akers, the postmaster.
