Aker Drilling (OSE: AKD) is a Norwegian drilling rig operation company. The company will take delivery of two brand new drilling rigs in 2008 with options of further two. The company is part of the Aker Group (30,84% ownership) and is listed on Oslo Stock Exchange. The company has its headquarters in Stavanger, Norway.
The two rigs, with options for two, are ordered from the sister company Aker Kværner and are of the model Aker H-6e. The rigs will be semi-submersible.
There was previously in the 1970s a different company called Aker Drilling, also that one being part of the Aker Group. That company is now part of Fred. Olsen Energy.
