Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum

Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is a Fijian lawyer of Indian descent, who was appointed Attorney-General , Minister for Justice, Electoral Reform & Anti-Corruption in the interim Cabinet of Commodore Frank Bainimarama on 8 January 2006.

Khaiyum is the son of Sayed Khaiyum, a longtime National Federation Party politician and the brother of former Fiji TV Journalist Riyaz Sayed Khaiyum. He has a Masters degree in Law and is on the board of Transparency International Fiji. He is a former senior legal officer in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and had been President of the Fiji Young Lawyers Association prior to his appointment to the cabinet.
