From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aitkin Secondary School is a rural high school (grades 7-12) in Aitkin County, Minnesota. In 2005 it had some 639 students and 45 teachers. This school goes under a four block day in the High School and in the Middle School that day spans in a seven period day. Enrichment courses takes place in the 2006-2007 school year before the conversion to the five period day in late 2007, along with the reversion of the trimester schedule that was used for most of the schools history. The school features a newly added commons area, two gyms, a band area, and three floors of classroom for all subjects of required courses and interest. All the classes in the 7th and the 8th grade are required, except for band and choir, but in the high school, there are many electives to choose from ranging from drawing to electronics. Aitkin High school is the home to the Minnesota championship dance team, the Aitkin All Stars, and the home to one of the best bands and choirs in the state of Minnesota. Standardized test scoring are a lot higher than many schools in the region, and the scores are as high has such cities such as Minneapolis some years.
