Air force three

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Air Force Three is the name of the controversial request of a private jet by U.S. Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi. Pelosi has requested the jet because she feels since she is second in line for the presidency (only Vice President Cheney is closer) she should have private transportation between Washington D.C. and her home district of San Fransico, California. Pelosi is the first ever woman speaker of the house and is the closest woman ever to the presidency. (Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice held the title of being the closest since she was fourth in line for the presidency, after vice president, house speaker, and president pro tempore of the senate.) Secretary Rice held her position for two years until the Democratic take over of congress in January 2007 put Nancy Pelosi in the speaker's chair.

Heated discussion is going on about the need for "Air Force Three".
