Air Nelson

Air Nelson is a regional airline based in Nelson, New Zealand. It operates services on provincial routes under the Air New Zealand Link brand. Its main bases are Tauranga Airport, Napier Airport, Nelson Airport, New Plymouth Airport, Wellington International Airport and Auckland International Airport.

The airline was established and started operations in 1979. It was founded by Robert Inglis and Nicki Smith who later sold the airline to Air New Zealand.
During October 2004 the airline announced that it was replacing its fleet of seventeen Saab 340As with seventeen Bombardier Dash 8 Q300 aircraft, with options for another ten Dash 8 Q300 and thirteen Dash 8 Q400 aircraft.[citation needed] Air New Zealand has placed a firm order for three 50-seat Bombardier Dash 8 Q300 aircraft on behalf of its wholly owned subsidiary, Air Nelson, representing conversion of options taken as part of the initial order of 10 October 2004[1].

As of August 2006, the Air Nelson fleet includes [2]:
- 17 Saab 340A
- 8 Bombardier Dash 8 Q300 (further nine to be delivered)
The Saab 340s are likely to be sold to other airlines, including Regional Express Airlines in Australia.
