Air Force Base

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An Air Force Base (AFB) is a military base of any of a number of air forces, including the United States Air Force (USAF) and the South African Air Force (SAAF). Placement of the standard abbreviation varies, with the USAF using it after the name of the base, such as in Dover AFB, and the SAAF using it before the name of the base, such as in AFB Hoedspruit. The Royal Australian Air Force uses a slightly different format referring to bases as "RAAF Base <name>" (Royal Australian Air Force Base).
