Ainjel Emme (born September 28, 1978) is a singer/songwriter from Austin, Texas. Born outside of Oakland, California, Emme was raised on the road with her mother, also a singer/songwriter, before settling down in Austin in 1991. She has been playing musical instruments by ear since the age of three, when she began teaching herself to play piano. She has since established herself as an accomplished vocalist, guitarist, bassist, drummer, and keyboardist. She produces and releases her own recordings on her Sparrowheart Music record label.
Emme released her first album, Heartache Is Boring in 2003, with Long As Its Sweet and "Set Up For A Fall" reaching #1 on the KIAC Big 50. Heartache Is Boring received critical acclaim from local and national press and was a pick for the Top 10 CDs of 2003 at Austin's KUT-FM. Her live performances have been recommended by Music Connection Magazine and the LA Times. She is currently in Los Angeles working on her second album, Songs To Pass The Quiet Hours, set to be released this year.
Ainjel appeared in the RightCentric: a snapshot of Todd V. Wolfson documentary, which was screened at South By Southwest (SXSW) 2004. Her songs have been featured in a number of independent films, including Todd Livingston's supernatural comedy, So You've Downloaded A Demon, the stoner-centric Desperate Housewives spoof Desperate Hippies (which was screened at Berlin's Tromanale festival), and Dan Patterson's Have Love Will Travel, scheduled to be released in 2007.
