Aileen Carroll

M. Aileen Carroll, PC, MP, BA, BEd (born June 1, 1944, Halifax, Nova Scotia) is a Canadian politician and the former Minister for International Cooperation in the Paul Martin government. As a Member of Parliament in the House of Commons she represented the district of Barrie, Ontario.
First elected to the House of Commons in 1997, Carroll was re-elected in the 2000 and 2004 general elections. Before her election, Carroll served as Alderman (1995-1997) in Barrie, creating some degree of controversy as she left her Municipal seat mid-term to run for Federal office. Carroll has a Bachelor of Arts from St. Mary's University (1965) and a Bachelor of Education from York University (1989). Carroll and her husband D. Kevin Carroll, Q.C., have two grown children, Daniel and Joanna. She lost her seat to Patrick Brown in the 2006 election.
In early 2007, Carroll announced that she would be seeking the Provincial nomination to run as a Liberal candidate in the forthcoming Ontario provincial election.
