From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aida Mason or Ada Mason (September 24, 1895 - February 9, 2007) was the oldest living person in the UK at 111 years of age, from the death of Scotswoman Annie Knight, also 111, on November 27, 2006, until her own death.

Aida was born in Upton, West Yorkshire, and was schooled until 13 years of age, where upon she went into service in Bradford.

She married John Mason, a miner, in 1914, and was widowed in 1962. She outlived all five of her children and attributed her long life to eating bread and dripping with salt every day. Upon her death, 110-year-old Florrie Baldwin became the oldest living person in the UK.
