Ahwahnee is an unincorporated town in Madera County, California, USA.

The United States does not define a census-designated place called Ahwahnee, but it does define a Zip Code Tabulation Area (ZCTA) in the area, 93601. Because Ahwahnee is contained within this ZCTA, it is possible to obtain Census data from the United States 2000 Census for the area even though data for "Ahwahnee" is unavailable.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,957 people, 721 households, and 559 families residing in the ZCTA of 93601. The racial makeup of the ZCTA was 88.7% White, 0.2% Black or African American, 2.0% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 1.7% from other races, and 6.6% from two or more races. 8.5% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

The median income for a household in the ZCTA is $38,688, and the median income for a family is $42,955. Males have a median income of $32,083 versus $23,083 for females. The per capita income for the town is $18,788. 9.0% of the population and 4.8% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 7.6% of those under the age of 18 and 1.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
