Agn-Dalian bridge

The Agn-Dalian bridge was a bridge originally located near Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. It was demolished by mistake by French Foreign Legion soldiers on September 5, 1970 in a "freak accident," as it was later described by 7th battalion leader, Jean-Pierre Doremee. The squadron that was assigned to demolish another bridge nearby, made a wrong turn and blew up the Agn-Dalian by mistake.
An American photographer by the name of William H. Walton who had accompanied the squadron, captured on 8mm film the explosion and the ensuing exchange of fire between the French squadron and the American marines stationed near the bridge. Four goats and two French soldiers were killed by the explosion, and the rest of the French squadron were captured and taken hostage.
Shortly after that incident the French government issued an official apology to the US army, and the French hostages were flagellated on the town square of Hanoi, then released.
It was brought back to public attention in the mid-1990s, when the popular professional wrestling stable, D-Generation X, started using the footage as part of their entrance.
