Age 13

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Age 13 is an educational movie by Sid Davis released in 1955.

It's about Andrew, a thirteen-year-old boy demented with grief over his mother that recently died. Andrew's mother's radio quits working on the same day Andrew's mother dies, and Andrew comes to believe that his mother will return if he can repair the radio. Andrew's step-father is cold and distant; Andrew becomes increasingly mocked and ostracized in class, and eventually brings a gun to school. He gets into a fight during physical education class, pulls the gun, and fires it. No one is wounded; the boy is taken to counseling, where he takes a Rorschach inkblot test and is encouraged to talk about his grief. Eventually he recovers, and is adopted by his aunt and her husband.

Musician Kevin Moore selected this film as inspiration for the Chroma Key album Graveyard Mountain Home. The movie was released on DVD as a companion to the CD, featuring the entire album instead of the original audio.
