This is the template documentation page for Template:Afd.

This template will categorise articles into Category:Articles for deletion. This template is a self-reference and so is part of the Wikipedia project rather than the encyclopedic content.

This template should always be substituted onto pages it appears on, or else red text (This template must be substituted. Replace {{AFD}} with {{subst:AFD}}.) will appear.

{{subst:Afd}}

This template will place a notice that the page has been nominated for deletion. It should be placed at the top of the page and substituted.

[edit] Remove the category

{{subst:Afd|category=}}

The category can be removed by adding the category parameter. This is useful if you want to display the template somewhere without adding it to the category.

[edit] Display without substituting

{{Afd|nosubst=yes}}

The nosubst parameter, if given any value, will prevent the not-substituted error if the template is not substituted. This may be combined with the category parameter to display on example pages:
