Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Aerin was a woman closely related to Húrin Thalion, the daughter of a man named Indor, not otherwise mentioned.

She was taken to wife against her will by Brodda the Easterling after he became the lord of Hithlum. She secretly helped Húrin's wife Morwen after the battle of Nirnaeth Arnoediad, and was beaten by Brodda for it.

When Túrin, son of Húrin, returned to Dor-lómin, he was offered shelter in her house. It was there that he met his old friend Sador Labadal again and learned from Aerin that his mother and sister had gone to Thingol’s realm.

Soon after, he slew Brodda and other Easterlings, but thereby sealed Aerin’s fate : her life may have been harsh, but his rash acts were to cause her death, she explained. He proposed to take her with him and bring her to Doriath but she refused, saying that she would die in the wilds as surely as if she stayed.
