Talk:AEK Athens FC
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
the nickname hanoumakia is insulting so i removed it. We can call Olympiakos "arouraioi" or Panathinaikos "lagoi". So we understand that it is insulting.

[edit] Copyright violation
The History section of this article was lifted from the AEK website. I have removed it. Thanks/wangi 14:33, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Emblem
I've uploaded an SVG-format graphic of the club emblem. Dragases 11:00, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] AEK FC or AEK Athens FC
I recommend that we move the article to AEK FC; this is the official name of the club. AEK Athens FC is only used by UEFA. Opinions? Dragases
- In articles on Wikipedia, the UEFA usage is normally used. In English usage, the team is normally referred to as "AEK Athens" (except by the idiot sportscaster on Sky News who pronounces it "Ike"!) -- Arwel (talk) 18:08, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
The team name is actually pronounced AH-ek (It's the idiot sportscasters that pronounce it A.E.K. that annoy me). Anyway, it's not a huge issue, just a suggestion... as an AEK fan, I prefer AEK FC. Dragases
[edit] History section
Is incredibly biased and sounds like it was written by the most fawning of AEK supporters.--GoHawks4 22:46, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
- What's exactly the problem? Can you mention a part that annoys you?XVA 02:38, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Major Rewrite
I've done a major rewrite of the existing article to make it a flow a little better and to make it little more palatable to Wikipedia tastes (less biased/POV). I've also separated the History section into major eras (20 year blocks), and added a Kit Evolution section. Please let me know of any errors - detailed information on the club is a little difficult to obtain when you're not in Greece... P.S. A credit to Phantis Wiki for the various player bios. [edit] AEK Kit Evolution
Even though most of the kits I've included in the Evolution section are accurate, some may not be due to a lack of accessible club photographic material at the time. In these cases, I've made an educated guess. Please feel free to adjust if you are sure about a specific kit. Cheers. Dragases 08:22, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] AEK Club Anthem
I've just added a Greek transliteration/English translation of the the lyrics to the AEK Anthem. Dragases 10:28, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Recent Deletions/Modifications
I noticed that user 85.75.222.152 recently deleted a few small sections in the article with regard to AEK's links to the Istanbul-based Pera Club. Though not a direct continuation of AEK or PAOK, I believe that it is important to at least mention the link that Pera Club (or at least, its athletes) had with AEK and PAOK. If AEK did not consider it's link to Pera Club important, then I don't believe club officials would have bothered to visit Pera Club during their recent trip to Istanbul as part of AEK's 80th Anniversary.Dragases 01:22, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Also, AEK's championship titles of 1941 and 1943 - during the Axis occupation - may not be officially recognised by the HFF (a reason it has been omitted from the official titles section), but I do believe that the fact should be mentioned as part of the History section.Dragases 01:22, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
