Adrian Micu was mayor of Roxboro, a neighbour suburb to Montreal. Micu was a major leader of the anti-merger movement on the Island of Montreal in 2000-2001. Following the victory of the Quebec Liberal Party in Quebec, a plebiscite was carried out in each former city, including Roxboro, in order to determine which former cities would opt to be reinstated. Despite Micu's efforts, the population of Roxboro voted by a very small margin to remain in the new city of Montreal.
