Adrian Brown (musician)

Adrian Brown graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London, he studied and then worked with Sir Adrian Boult. He is the only British conductor to have reached the finals of the Karajan Conductors' Competition and has conducted the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra and the Camerata Salzburg, one of Europe's foremost chamber orchestras. He has also worked with many leading British orchestras including the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestraand the London Sinfonietta. He has made a great contribution to working with young musicians. He has conducted the National Youth Orchestra, the Senior Orchestra of the Royal Academy of Music and regularly runs courses for young musicians.

Recent engagements have included a Millennium performance of Tippett's 'Child of our Time', 'Die Fledermaus' and 'Feuersnot'. He was one of a hundred musicians presented with a prestigious Classic FM Award at their 10th Birthday Honours Celebration in June 2002.

Adrian is currently the musical director of the Stoneleigh Youth Orchestra, a small orchestra located in Surrey, South East England.
