[edit] False licenses

Please do not upload images with false licenses, such as you did to Image:7of9pubphoto.jpg. Additionally, remember that images need to have their source identified. --Yamla 18:17, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, I didn't mean to include a 'false license'. The image was a publicity photo and is avaliable from many sources including startrek.com.Admiralross2400 18:45, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
No problem. You should be aware, however, that we cannot use such images to depict living people, as per WP:FU. --Yamla 18:54, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. I didn't know that. I've appended the correct license for the 19 Squadron Crest, and am currently attempting to hunt down the original copyright information for the Dolphin picture (see below), but am struggling. It is one of only a couple images of the Sopwith Dolphin avaliable. Can it be used under the Fair Usage as well? Thanks. Admiralross2400 18:57, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Dolphinsopwith.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Dolphinsopwith.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:19, 4 January 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 18:19, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

This image now has the correct source and I believe the correct Public Domain Release. Thanks Admiralross2400 19:08, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Dolphinsopwith.jpg

Thank you for uploading Image:Dolphinsopwith.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Yamla 18:19, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:19sqncrst.gif

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:19sqncrst.gif. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 18:19, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Have added reasons behind fair usage and copyright source and status. Thanks Admiralross2400 18:58, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
