Admiralty code
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Admiralty Code system is a two-character notation used by military intelligence organisations to record the reliability and accuracy of a piece of information.
- Reliability of Source
- A - Completely Reliable
- B - Usually Reliable
- C - Fairly Reliable
- D - Not usually Reliable
- E - Unreliable
- F - Cannot be judged
- Accuracy of data
- 1 - Confirmed by other sources
- 2 - Probably True
- 3 - Possibly True
- 4 - Doubtful
- 5 - Improbable
- 6 - Truth cannot be judged
Hence, a statement coded A1 would be the best possible, meaning it was from a completely reliable source and the information was confirmed by other sources.
