Adil Rashid

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Adil Rashid (born Feburary 17, 1988, Bradford, Yorkshire) is a cricketer who plays for England Under-19s and Yorkshire. He has also been selected to tour with England A in Bangladesh in February 2007. He is a very promising genuine all rounder who bowls legspin and is an attacking right handed batsman.

Born in Bradford, Adil is the latest in a long line of excitingly talented young British-Asian cricketers to break into the England set up. He is the first Yorkshire born Asian to play for the county and has been surrounded by hype since the age of 13, when he set a record for the youngest player to complete a 10 wicket haul in the Bradford League.

Rashid was offered a professional contract by Yorkshire CCC in 2007. He lived up to considerable hype to take 6-67 against Warwickshire in his first-class debut in 2006. A pupil of Terry Jenner, Rashid has starred for England Under-19s, most notably during the second Test against India with a century and an eight wicket haul, which was a record for an England U-19 player.
