The ADFX-01 Morgan is a fictional fighter aircraft in the game Ace Combat Zero. Its name is derived from the ADF-01 with the 'X' denoting it is a prototype, the number appearing to denote which prototype it is; during the game, the player can control the ADFX-01, while the ADFX-02 also appears. Due to the high influence of Arthurian legend found within Ace Combat Zero, it is highly likely that this plane's name stems from the character Morgan le Fay.

The ADFX-01 appears, thus far, only in Ace Combat Zero as both a flyable plane and is flown by the game's last enemy ace. It is highly maneuverable and is fairly resistant to damage.

[edit] Statistics

The fighter carries 800 rounds of ammunition for its vulcan cannon, and 84 AIM-9M Sidewinder missiles. The aircraft also comes equipped with seven Tactical Laser System shots as its secondary weapon. 8 Multi-Purpose Burst Missiles or an Electronic Counter Measure Pod with 8 charges can also be carried.

[edit] Aircraft Configuration

The ADFX-01 is an experimental aircraft using state-of-the-art technology including Belkan chemical laser systems. The results of the experiment gave birth to the ADF-01 Falken.

Unlike its successor, the Morgan does not internalize its weapons, instead relying on struts to mount its laser above and behind the cockpit and pylons beneath its wings for Sidewinders and burst missiles. Its engines also do not exhibit thrust vectoring. The ADFX-01's laser has less ammunition, and the laser appears to remain activated for a shorter time (4 seconds) when fired compared to the ADF-01's laser system (8 seconds).

One interesting aspect of the Morgan is that it seems to create more lift with its body structure, allowing it to take off at nearly half of the Falken's speed.

The ADFX-01 has in-flight refueling capabilities.

[edit] ADFX-02

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

In the last campaign mission of Ace Combat Zero, the player comes up against an ace pilot, former wingman Pixy, flying a then-unknown aircraft. This aircraft later is designated the ADFX-02 and, unlike the ADFX-01, is heavily armored, and is able to carry all three special weapons at once. However, it uses only one at a time. Its jamming pod can also deflect literally anything not in front of the aircraft, however a laser shot from the rear will shoot it down. In addition, the ADFX-02 is also equipped with a computer system that allowed Pixy to control the launch of the Belkan V2 nuclear missile during the mission.
