Image:Action potential reloaded.jpg

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Part A: Schematic of an action potential, redrawn and labeled after the image originally produced by User:Diberri in Adobe Illustrator (reproduction in CorelDraw!). A version of the old drawing with no labels is available at Image:Action-potential-nolabels.png. This illustration is based on Image:ActionPotential.png by User:Chris 73.

Part B: An image of an actual action potential taken from the digital oscilloscope aspect of the program PClamp v9 ([Instruments]). Action potential (blue line) is from a mouse hippocampal pyramidal neuron, evoked by a prolonged pulse of current (orange line) passed through the recording electrode into the cell. Imported into and labeled in CorelDraw!
