Active Voice

Active Voice is a Seattle, WA based company acquired by Cisco Systems in 2000 for approximately $300 million. It was done to primarily for their Unity Unified Messaging product. As part of the acquisition, Cisco re-sold the voicemail-only division for $30 million to Active Voice employees. This essentially resulted in the company being re-founded in 2001 and competing with Cisco.
