Action of October 1624

This naval battle took place at the start of October 1624 near Sardinia, and was a victory for a Tuscan/Papal/Neapolitan galley force over 6 Algerine sailing ships.
Whilst patrolling in the Mediterranean Sea in the area west of Italy, a Christian galley force made up of Tuscans, Papal vessels and Neapolitans, encountered near Sardinia 6 Algerine sailing ships. During the battle an Algerine of 50 guns was forced to blow itself up and 4 others were captured. The Neapolitan commander, Pimental, was killed.
