Action of 4 August 1799

The "Action of 4 August 1799" was a naval engagement of between British units of the Second Coalition and forces of the Consulate regime of France.

This battle took place on 4 August 1799, when four 1300-ton British East Indiamen and their escorting battleship defeated a French frigate force. The schooner, acting as tender, fled early.
