[edit] Inversion of Main Theme?

Can someone who knows something about music theory find a way to point out that this is basically an inversion of Luke's theme? (That's the one that plays over the opening credit scroll in all six movies.) --Peter Farago 01:40, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

I looked at this, wrote out the notes, and don't quite see this. Maybe rhythmically they are similar, but that is what ties a film score together. Both themes have triplet rhythms. First of all, AtS is in a minor key, while the main theme is in a major key. The main theme starts with a leap up of a perfect fifth, while the AtS theme begins with a leap up of a minor sixth. Both continue with falling triplets. In an inversion, you'd expect one to go up and the other to go down. Just my opinion. Nationalparks 05:03, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
I don't see it either. Like he said, they both have triplets, but they are quite different. Luke's theme is in 4/4 (or 12/8, if you'd like) but Across the Stars is in 9/8. The contrary motion just isn't there.--68.69.65.13 03:34, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
