Acme

Acme (Greek: ακμή, the peak, zenith, prime) denotes the best of something.
In contemporary culture and society it is used in diverse contexts:
- Acme Corporation is a fictional company that exists in the world of Looney Tunes cartoons. Subsequently it has been adopted widely in all forms of fiction as the archetypal name for a fictional company or corporation. (Sometimes made a backronym to: A Company (that) Makes Everything - though this is in dispute.)
- ACME Workers' Club is a variety entertainment social club that runs in Edinburgh (Scotland) once a month on a Friday night.
- Acme XI: The last known son of the royal family in ancient Olympia. Legend has it the lineage continues until today but is kept confidential amongst people who know.
- ACME: An International E-Journal for Critical Geographies is a peer-reviewed, online-only academic journal founded in 2002.
- The ACME Detective Agency is the detective organization in the Carmen Sandiego computer games. In the games, the user is always an ACME agent.
- The Acme Packers, a name used by the Green Bay Packers American football team in their first year in the NFL, when they were sponsored by the Acme Packing Company.
