Acland Burghley School

Acland Burghley School is a mixed comprehensive secondary school in London, England.
It is based in Tufnell Park, North London, and teaches boys and girls aged 11-18; there are many more boys than girls. Most students come from the London boroughs of Camden and Islington. In 2002 the school earned Arts College status under the Specialist School Scheme. Particular areas of strength are Art and Design and Business Studies (both subjects were rated 'excellent' in the most recent OFSTED report). The current Head Teacher is Michael Shew.
The school is a part of the La Swap Sixth Form Consortium, together with William Ellis School, La Sainte Union Catholic Secondary School and Parliament Hill School.

20% of students do not speak English as their first language. 12 students are in the early learning stages of English.
4.6% of students have a statement of Special Educational Needs, a far higher proportion than average.
Over all, attainment of students is average and achievement of students is good.

Notable past students of Acland Burghley are the hip hop singer and Mercury Music Prize winner Ms Dynamite, the rapper Akala, reggae star Eddy Grant, Sarah Macaulay (wife of Gordon Brown) and her brother Sean, the London Times film critic and Robert Muchamore the author of the CHERUB series.
