[edit] Production notes
Despite its classification as an EP Achso clocks in at almost fifty minutes, a length that might suggest a full length album. Because of its length the EP was pressed on 12" LP vinyl, allowing for a longer running time per side. Duso, which has a running time of 11:19, is the shortest song on this EP. Even this song is significantly longer than most electronic music songs which are typically run from five to seven minutes. Extended track length is a trademark of both minimal techno and Villalobos' specific production aesthetic. This production style, demonstrated on Achso, and other Villalobos' songs such as 'Easy Lee' and 'Que Belle Epoque', allows tracks to gradually change through phrasing, addition and subtraction of rhythmic and melodic loops, and the application of filters and audio effects.
