Achampet, also known locally as "Peta", is the capital of Achampet Taluq. It is located in Mahabubnagar district in the Andhra Pradesh state of India. Achampet is a State Assembly constituency reserved for SCs. The current MLA is Vamshi Krishna.

Achampet is located at the foot-hills of Nallamala forests and is just about 2 km from the famous Uma Maheshwaram temple. It is approximately 100 km from Hyderabad, Srisailam, and Mahabubnagar.

Achampet has theaters, petrol pumps, electricity sub-stations, bus depot, degree and junior colleges, ITI, many schools and lot of shops for local trade.
