[edit] Rumoured Singles

Hear Me Calling

European Labels at first planned for this song to follow The Sign in Europe. After careful consideration, HMC was ultimately dropped in favour of DTA due to its success Stateside. Many have also heard reports that HMC and DTA were to be released as double A-sides in the UK.

Young and Proud

Young and Proud was rumoured to follow Living in Danger in the USA as single five for the album The Sign.

Voulez-Vous Danser

Voulez-Vous Danser appeared in the trailer for the film Monkey Trouble at the height of Ace of Base's stateside success. The song, however, never appeared on the CD soundtrack and was never released to clubs or radio stations.

Edge of Heaven

Edge of Heaven was more than just rumoured to be the third single from The Bridge in North America. Originally Arista records planned for this track to follow the acoustic version of Lucky Love, but upon hearing the European remix of NGSIS by Sweetbox, the label dropped plans for the ballad and opted for NGSIS instead.

My Déjà Vu

My Déjà Vu was to be the fourth international single from The Bridge album. However, when Never Gonna Say I’m Sorry only peaked at #106 on the Billboard charts in North America , Arista records ended all further attempts to promote the album, leaving behind only France and Scandinavia whom had already released DJ CDs to radio stations containing a new edit of MDV. With Arista’s loss of interest, European record companies followed their lead and cancelled promotion for the single.

Ravine

After a live performance of the song for the 1997 World Music Awards, many European fans hoped Ravine would resurrect promotion and sales for the album after the cancellation of My Déjà Vu. Some fans report having heard the song on the radio shortly after, but no promotional CDs have ever surfaced. In recent years, an album sampler for The Bridge has appeared on online auctions, containing remixes of Lucky Love and Beautiful Life as well a demo version of Angel Eyes, and the album versions of Never Gonna Say I'm Sorry and Ravine. Of these five tracks, Ravine is the only to not have been released as a single. Many believe this to be proof that European record labels felt strongly about Ravine's potential as a single.

Blooming 18

On packaging stickers in the American market, Arista records listed Blooming 18 as a future single.

Donnie

Donnie was to be the third single in North America, coinciding with the release of Always Have Always Will in Europe and Australia. After Whenever You’re Near Me failed to chart very high, plans for Donnie were dropped. Many fans saw the lack of a third single in Canada and US as an obvious sign that Arista was losing interest in the band.

Everytime It Rains

The original title of the Flowers album in North America was Everytime It Rains as indicated by commercially released copies of Cruel Summer CD singles in the US. Many fans theorize that plans for EIR as an America single ended with a feud between Malin Berggren and the then head of Arista Records Clive Davis, regarding her new position out of the spotlight. Ultimately, the song was released in the UK in early 1999, but without a video. EIR was also remixed for American audiences in early 2000 to promote the stateside version of Singles of the 90’s.

Adventures In Paradise

Adventures In Paradise was listed as "a hit single" on the packaging sticker for Flowers and Cruel Summer and may have been, like Ravine for The Bridge album, kept in mind as a latter single to promote the album.

Love In December

In late 1999, a British fan reported a track listing for CD maxi singles printed in a London Records pressing factory. The songs included on the CDs were the coveted unreleased track L’amour, two remixes of Cecilia, and instrumental versions and radio edits of Love In December.

Da Capo

In early 2002, the official website revealed the title of the then unreleased album Da Capo. Stated in the post, "Da Capo" (a dance track) was a contender for second single; the lead single, Beautiful Morning, having already been chosen. Da Capo was beat out by The Juvenile in Germany and Unspeakable in Scandinavia.

Wonderful Life

Wonderful Life is track seven from the Da Capo album appears on the South African completion The Hits alongside most of the singles from throughout Ace of Base's career. Details on official releases in the country have always been scarce, however, a Cruel Summer CD Maxi-single from the South African record label once surfaced. One can only deduce that the song was included on the compilation because it received airplay in that country. Again, no promotional CDs have ever surfaced.

Hey Darling

Hey Darling was confirmed as a single to follow Unspeakable in Scandinavia and while Ace of Base management insisted the song was being remixed for a commercial release, no promotional CDs have ever surfaced and only a handful of fans report having even heard the song on the radio.

[edit] B-sides

L'amour

L'amour appeared on a Swedish Christmas compilation titled Let Love Be Love. It has long since been a coveted track, unavailable to fans outside of Scandinavia.

Into the Night of Blue

Into the Night of Blue was included as a bonus track on Japanese versions of the band's third album, and also appeared as a b-side on Scandinavian Cruel Summer singles, and as a b-side to the UK single Everytime It Rains.

Mercy Mercy

Mercy Mercy appeared as a bonus track to German and British audiences on the CD single for Always Have Always Will in late 1998. To date, this is one of two songs that has never been released in Ace of Base's home country of Sweden.

No Good Lover

No Good Lover was a b-side exclusive to Scandinavia during promotion for Flowers. It appeared on the single Life Is a Flower.

Love For Sale

Love For Sale appears on the CD single for Always Have Always Will in the UK, Australia, Scandinavia, and Germany. Many comment on the high quality of the dark song's potential in the club and techno scene. LFS was cut from the album not because its composition lacked, but because it simply did not fit the mood of the Flowers record.

Don't Stop

Don't Stop was a bonus track on copies of Unspeakable and The Juvenile singles in Germany, Scandinavia, and Spain. It was a bonus track on Japanese editions of Da Capo.

Summer Days

Summer Days was one of two tracks that has not appeared in Ace of Base's home country of Sweden. This song is an exclusive bonus track to Japanese editions of Da Capo

Herrens Sanning

Herrens Sanning appeared on the Gospel compilation En Utstrackt Hand (A Helping Hand). The song is written by Jonas and Jenny Berggren of Ace of Base as well as Jenny's husband Jakob Petren. Though Ulf and Malin are absent from this composition, many fans claim this track is still a work of Ace of Base, as many recent Ace of Base tracks featuring Jenny singing alone were written by Jonas and collaboraters.
