[edit] Biography

He was born in Stockton, California to parents that were in the restaurant/nightclub business, and at the age of 5 learned to play Alto Sax. When his parents moved him to another school district that needed a drummer, Ace (over his parents' objections) became the school drummer. Ace would sit in with the house band at his father's nightclub playing Sax and drums.

In 1964, Ace, being influenced by the Beatles and Dave Clark Five spent more time playing his brother's electric guitar. While still playing drums in local bands, he found himself learning more and more cord progressions on his brother's guitar. Ace's mother died when he was 11 years old. At that time his brother would go off to Vietnam leaving his father to raise him alone. Ace would follow his brother's footsteps and enlist in the Navy 6 years later towards the end of the Vietnam War. It was in the US Navy that Ace fronted his first professional band. A power trio called "Sky High" (Kerry Henry/bass and Toby Woodard/drums) that would perform in Japan in 1976.

After leaving the Navy with an honorable discharge in 1977, Ace would return to the San Francisco Bay Area and record his first single "Still Waiting" and "I can't love you no more". He would eventually meet rock impressario Bill Graham and become a permanent part of the San Francisco music scene. Ace currently performs with his back up band The X-15's . His back up musicians have included Page Jackson (bass, Mary carves the Chicken) Rick Jensen (drums) Dave Kaffenetti (Keyboards, Spinal Tap) Tom Bowers (bass, The Doorslammers)
