Associazione Calcio Azzurri or AC Azzurri was formed in 1982 by the large Italian community in Worthing. The club inherits its name from the Italian national side who are affectionately nicknamed the Azzurri. Translated into English as 'The Blues' the team naturally wear the colours made famous by their illustrious 4 time World Cup winning counterparts as a home strip. Club president Giulio De Sanctis has been responsible for the whole 25 year duration of Azzurri and has been the cornerstone of its existence since conception. The team initially competed in the Sussex Sunday League but switched to the Worthing and Horsham District League in the late nineties.

Current Player/Manager Stuart Smith has led Azzurri to six trophies during his three year reign. That achievement consists of the Worthing & Horsham District treble in 2004/05 (Premier Division, Trophyman Cup and Presidents Cup) followed by winning the Sussex County Challenge Trophy and retaining the Presidents Cup in 2005/06. Azzurri reclaimed the Worthing & Horsham District Premier Division title in 2006/07 after missing out on goal difference the previous year.
