Abu Haps Omar

Abu Haps Omar was the Emir of Cordoba in Andalucia in the 9th century A.D.
After a fatricidal crisis that erupted within in the Arab state of Andalucia he was forced to move away with his people and set out to search for another place to settle down. His men being able pirates and seasoned soldiers managed in 824 A.D. to wrest Crete from the Byzantine Empire and establish there a new haliphate that thrived until 961 A.D. when General Niciphoros Phokas recaptured it for the Byzantines.
