Abu Dhabi Indian School is the largest private school offering Indian curriculum in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The school is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi.

The Abu Dhabi Indian School started functioning from the Indian Social Centre premises in the year 1975. As the strength increased , the need for a new premises was acutely felt. H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan-al Nahyan, the President of U.A.E was approached and he generously gifted a plot of land, measuring 175mx 150m , situated at Shabia Muroor , New Airport Road, to the Indian Ambassador for an Educational Institution for the children of Indian Community. The school shifted to the new premises in the year 1980. The school has been functioning effectively for the past 25 years and has distinguished itself in various areas. Our students have distinguished themselves in various fields and are well placed in life not only in India , but in different parts of the world.

The School has various clubs and the students are motivated and encouraged to take part in various clubs suiting to their taste and talents. Each club has a teacher in charge as a coordinator who helps them to learn more and develop their talents. Some of the clubs introduced in the school are as under

[edit] Prakriti - Nature Club

The Nature Club of the Abu Dhabi Indian School informally functioning for the past 12 years was formally launched in April 1993. Since its inception the club has progressed a great deal. It now enjoys a good rapport with all the Governmental and Non-Governmental agencies associated with environment protection. The Club was started with an aim to spread environmental awareness among the students and the community at large and also incorporate a proper environmental ethics and behavior among the younger generation. It was envisaged to achieve these aims through the following programs and activities.

[edit] Literary and Debating Club

This club aims at improving the student's abilities in public speaking, helping them voice their feelings , hopes and aspirations. We train them to combine thoughts and words and to express them in powerful speech in elocution, declamation and debating . 'Voices', the debating club of the school was officially instituted in 1999 with a specific aim of providing its students with qualities of confidence, composure and capacity to adjust to new surroundings. The club organizes the competitions within and outside the school and invites schools from all over the U.A.E to participate in the Inter school Debating Competitions . It provides the students a platform to meet others like them who wish to develop debating skills and voices of their own. Student coordinators are the President ,Vice President , Secretary and Treasurer. We hope to inculcate in the students a will to improve themselves, a need to strengthen themselves and a voice to express themselves so that they can contribute and have effective roles in the society at large.

[edit] Badminton and Table Tennis Club

The school auditorium is made available to students and members of the Indian Community after the school hours in the evening. The students are encouraged to improve their skills in the games and enjoy socializing with other members of the community.

[edit] Swimming Club

The swimming pool measuring 25mx12.5m with controlled temperature is an excellent facility for the Indian Community in Abu Dhabi. It is a very popular hobby among the students and its members. Students who are trained during the school hours are given special training and practice to strengthen their skills and improve their stamina for swimming.
