"Absolute Defeat" is the 7th episode of the anime series Eureka Seven.

The episode begins with a team of UF Force KLFs on an investigative mission to find another KLF team that had gone MIA in a foggy area. As they spot incoming objects, they try to shoot them down, but all three are impaled with a glowing green shard. The scene fades to the Council room, where the Sages are reviewing the mission data.
Renton awakes in the brig, after a week in detention, with a "job" offer from Hap. In the galley, he is presented with a ramen delivery box, and Hap and Stoner dramatically describe a very secretive "mission"—actually an elaborate hoax—for him. Unexpectedly for them, Renton eagerly accepts. They give him a "special" uniform that would "distract the enemy".
While Renton is in the field, he isn't aware that Moondoggie is (unprofessionally) telecasting his progress to the crew. Meanwhile, Hilda muses over the sudden usage of junk food by the crew. Eureka asks her where Renton might be, and learns that he's gone on an errand.
Renton is directed to the sauna "Rainbow". Stoner tells him (per Maurice's suggestion) to look for a tattooed guy with a toupee and swipe it. Not long after Renton continues with the "mission", Hilda discovers the pranksters, who reveal that Holland and Talho not only agreed to the prank, but suggested it.
At the site of the downed KLFs, Dominic reports to Dewey the timeline of events. Dewey walks to the edge of a cliff, and points out a downed team leader unit.
In the next scene, Moondoggie and Renton are at a cafe (evidently having run from the sauna) while the "audience" watches aboard the Gekko. Renton honestly asks Moondoggie if he bailed him out, but Moondoggie demands to know whether Renton is part of a bigger prank on him. Renton, still not realizing that a hoax is involved, takes this to mean that Moondoggie is concerned about him. He confides in Moondoggie that he boarded the Gekko to help Eureka, and thanks "Brother Doggie (ドギー兄さん Doggie-nīsan?)" for his help.
Shortly after this, Renton discovers the "client", and does exactly what Hap tells him without breaking down. He soon realizes that he was the target of a prank, and learns that Moondoggie was also treated the same way, and was rather upset that he was being overlooked as the butt of jokes for the younger boy.
Talho tells Hilda and Hap that Dewey has been released from the stockade. In a conference with the Sages, Dewey opines that the actions of the enemy strongly suggest that they have not changed since they—the Coralians—last clashed with humanity.
Renton is too humiliated to talk to Eureka, who comes later with dinner. She tells him that she's impressed with how everyone's changed since he came aboard.
