Above (artist)

Above, born 1981, has been a graffiti artist since 1997. He is best known for his upwards-pointing arrows, which as well as painting he also hangs from phone lines and overhead supports. He started spraying freight trains in California. While moving to Paris at the age of 19, in 2000 he started painting his trademark arrow on store shutters, produce trucks and made wooden arrows that he attached high up on city walls. Since then Above has been traveling around the world doing many large self financed tours with his artworks and "arrow mobile" installations. In 2004 Above did his "USA TOUR" and drove around the country visiting 14 cities in the USA and Toronto, Canada as well, all while hanging his arrow mobiles. In 2005 Above then traveled back to Europe and did a 4 month tour from Spain to Hungary, Iceland to Rome visiting the capital cities of each country. Having put his artworks and arrows in over 20+ countries around the globe has made Above one of the major players in the "street art" realm.
