Abkhaz Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic

 Flag of the Abkhaz ASSR introduced in 1978 and used until the collapse of the Soviet union in 1991. It differed from the flag used before, which was identical to the flag of the Georgian SSR, in that the name of the ASSR was added written in the Abkhaz language and script.

The Abkhaz ASSR was an autonomous republic of the Soviet Union, within the Georgian SSR. It came into existence when the Abkhazian SSR was demoted to the status of Autonomous Republic in 1931.
