Abigail "Abi" Branning is a fictional character in the popular BBC soap opera EastEnders. She is played by 10-year-old Lorna Fitzgerald.

[edit] History

Abi is the daughter of Max and Tanya Branning and half sister of Bradley Branning. She also has a sister called Lauren. She lives at number 5 Albert Square.

Abi hurt her ankle when she was doing sports, but her cousin Sonia, a nurse, healed it.

She made a friend in Ben Mitchell. She was uneasy about playing with Ben at first but eventually came round and the pair became friends. She got her head stuck in some railings when she was showing off to Ben. She and Ben also threw water bombs at Lauren after she made fun of them playing together.

In November, Ben and Abi worked on a science project together. Abi convinced Ben to pour wet mud all over Ben's grandmother Peggy's kitchen table and then add ants to make an ant farm. They told Ben's father Phil that they would tidy up when they were finished although they made a big mess and left Phil to tidy up when they went to Abi's house to write the results of their project.

Abi scared Ben by predicting that Stella and Phil would get married and send him to a strict boarding school. On Christmas Day 2006, Abi entered The Queen Vic and announced "Santa's dead!" after seeing Minty, dressed as Santa, fall off a ladder.

On 15 January 2007 she was waiting for her father to collect her from school, but he was having an affair with Stacey Slater and did not turn up. She walked home but was knocked over by the car that Deano Wicks was driving, as he was arguing with Chelsea Fox. Abi escped with only a broken wrist and some cuts and brusies on her head but Tanya was furious with Max and blamed him for the accident. Abi got lots of fuss after what had happened. Max got her DVDs and chocolate and Bradley got her a board game. Tanya forgave Max eventully but made him beg.

Abi was thrilled to get the lead in her school play called The Lonely Butterfly. She was looking forward to it but after the car crash she had to wear a sling and thought she looked stupid. Lauren didn't help by saying she would be the one winged butterfly.

On 23 February 2007 Abi's gerbil Rolf died. She held a funeral for him the same day and sung "Bright Eyes" at his graveside. Max bought her a guinea pig, whom she named Marge.

Lately Abi has fallen out with Ben because of his father's girlfriend Stella Crawford, as she framed Abi for ripping up Ben's Mothers' Day card to Peggy, and turned Ben against Abi.
