Abhay Rustum Sopori has been awarded the prestigious Sangeet Natak Academy Award - Ust. Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar 2007. He is the 1st recipients and the youngest musician to receive the award. the award has been constituted this year and abhay also happens to be the only musician from North India to receive the award.


Abhay Rustum Sopori is the youngest santoor maestro of india. He has received a wide range of acclamation in the santoor tradition. Abhay Rusutm Sopori is the son of legendary maestro Pandit Bhajan Sopori and grandson of Pandit S. N. Sopori, who is hailed as the father of indian classical music in Jammu and Kashmir.
