[edit] Introduction

This page aims to keep track of the various known and suspected socks of User:Maleabroad. The motivation is to consolidate sock investigations in one place.

Note that socks sometimes appear as unregistered IP users, often from the IP range 136.159.32.*

This thread and this one suggest that there may be meatpuppets involved, too.

Anyone is free to contribute and add to this page, but for obvious reasons I (i.e. Abecedare) retain the right to revert/refactor any changes.

  • How to use this page:
    • If you spot an editor, who you suspect is a sock of Maleabroad, add his name as a new section.
    • List specific diffs and explain what ties the edit to Maleabroad.
    • If you are convinced that your/someone else's suspicion is unfounded, please strike out the corresponding entry.
    • Add the template {{sock|Maleabroad}} to the corresponding user page so that the Category:Suspected Wikipedia sockpuppets of Maleabroad is updated.
    • Maleabroad often adds many external links. You can quickly find the same URL on other pages using: Special:Linksearch
    • If you are an admin and are convinced by the evidence presented here, please block the corresponding account.
    • Once a sock is checkusered and/or blocked, please move it to the closed section.
    • Smile ... and repeat cycle. :-)

[edit] Articles to watch

[edit] Active now (alphabetical order)

[edit] HinduWikiUser (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log)

[edit] Share01 (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log)

  • Username fits a common pattern of his involving use of 1 at end of a capitalized word, plus tension between Buddhist and Hindus and concern about use of the word Hindu for Brahmanic. [1] Buddhipriya 04:25, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Straycode (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log)

  • It may be too early to be sure that this is Maleabroad, but I have a gut feeling that the disruptive pattern of editing here is a sign of a tactic change. The pattern of immediately going into an edit war is characteristic on this brand new account. If he is not getting results on Hinduism pages he may be moving to direct disruption of Buddhism articles. Please put Buddhism on your watch pages. Edits show preoccupation with the origin of Buddhism. [2] Buddhipriya 22:40, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] TabEnter (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log)

  • Muslim/Hindu hate theme immediately noticed as a sock by Orpheus. [3] Buddhipriya 04:33, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
  • His only edit stated in the edit summary "I am not a sockpuppet". Orpheus 09:57, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bandwidthx (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log)

  • At first I was not not sure if this is a sock of Maleabroad or one of the other POV pushers, but it is definitely a sock of ChangeDetection, placking links to the web site, and editing on the same pages in some cases. It is proven to be Maleabroad by evidence for ChangeDetection. Buddhipriya 01:08, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
  • Note use of term "sanatana dharma" in nationalist sense: [8] Buddhipriya 01:08, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] ChangeDetection (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log)

  • Buddha as avatar of Visnu is a dead giveaway that this is Maleabroad. [10] Buddhipriya 01:17, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
  • Another example of preoccupation with Buddha/Vishnu connections [11] Buddhipriya 01:23, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

  • Preoccupation with vegetarianism. [28] Buddhipriya 01:25, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
  • Preoccupation with vegetarianism and familiar behavior of trying to get into a revert war instead of moving a dispute to talk page [29] Buddhipriya 02:38, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
  • Anti-Muslim rhetoric "Though cow-slaughter is officially banned in many parts of India, it is difficult to enforce the law and many people, most often the Muslims who consider the meat to be halal, illegally slaughter cows, and claim it is halal" [30]. Compare preoccupation with cows by Benevolent56 ("In both religions, the cow is the most sacred animal." [31] Buddhipriya 02:58, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
