Aber is also the name given in north-western Brittany to very large estuaries, which are actually drowned river valleys or rias; Aber Wrac'h, Aber Benoît, Aber Ildut. This is not altogether surprising as the "aber" which appears at the start of many place names in Wales means "river mouth". They were formed by the relative rise of the English Channel and the Atlantic Ocean. [Aber][1] is also the name of a Macedonian website, www.aber.net.mk. The translation from the Turkish root of this word is VOICE or NEWS. It is also used in the Macedonian language.
